Employment Support & Services

Employment Service provides Job search support to those who are unemployed and not participating in full time training or education. Participants aged 16 and up can access:

 

  • Individual pre-employment counseling

  • Job Matching and Placements

  • Job postings and job placements

  • One on one Employment Counselling

  • Job search workshops on resumes, cover letters, interviews, career exploration

  • Life Skills workshops, cash register and more

  • Job skills training and certification workshops (e.g. ServSafe, Smart Serve, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), Customer Service Excellence

Employment Service also includes Second Career which was created by MAESD to help laid-off, unemployed workers make the transition to new careers in growing areas of the economy. To be eligible, individuals must:
 

  • Attend a mandatory information session held at TEC twice a month

  • Meet the suitability and eligibility criteria

  • Have been laid-off on or after January 1, 2005

  • Be unemployed

  • Be a resident of Ontario

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident legally authorized to work in Canada;

  • Demonstrate occupational demand for the skills training request with evidence of good employment prospects locally or within Ontario.
